Mrs. Muench loves.....

So it's my turn to talk about my favorite music.  I like almost anything that I'm familiar with.  I think I could learn to like about any type of music as long as I'm introduced to it by someone who is passionate about that type of music.  People who are passionate about their music introduce me to things I haven't noticed before and can talk to me about what is it they like about their music.  For instance, even though I don't usually like most rap music right away, if Liz pointed out some interesting part of a song that might make me more inclined to listen to the song again.

If I'm looking for music to listen to in the car I most often listen to contemporary Christian music.  I like that it's up beat and can make me feel happier on days when I am down.  I also like that this type of music helps me think about if I'm treating those around me well.

Of course in music class my favorite type of music is anything that involves singing!  A few nights ago I found this video on youtube and I really like how the kids are using their faces to express the meaning of the song's lyrics.  These kdis are 5th graders too but they're from New York.

Maybe someday our 5th grade chorus will be that expressive when they sing!

I don't like to listen to any music that puts people down.  If it's not positive I don't like to spend lots of time listening to it.  So if someone trys to get me to listen to a song about killing someone over and over then I'm going to say, "no thank you".  Or if a song has foul language in it that really doesn't sit well with me.  I think educated people can find better words than curse words to express themselves.

I'll cover my favorite music class activity in my next blog.  Thanks for reading!

Mrs. Muench,
I like the way you tell us just how the music you choose makes you feel! It made me think of things I have never thought of!
